Following a 12-month break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are delighted to report that this year’s CREST (Cancer Research Excellence in Clinical Trials) has been awarded to the General Surgical research team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. Despite the challenges of the Covid pandemic the team have still managed to maintain a large, wide ranging portfolio of studies recruiting a large number of patients to cancer research studies.

The winner of the 2021 Association of Surgeons in Training Silver Scalpel Award was announced at the virtual conference as being Miss Manjit Dhillon a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The physical award was presented to Miss Dhillon in October by ASiT President Lola Giwa and Anna Rose at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in front of around 25 of her colleagues, friends and family.

Swann-Morton are launching a “new” range of Ergonomic handles which are designed to maximise performance and dexterity and feature a textured surface finish for ease and comfort of grip whilst minimising fatigue. These ergonomically designed handles are used in a Histology, Pathology / Autopsy and Laboratory settings whilst they can be autoclaved to avoid any cross contamination of samples.

From the 11th to 14th November, Swann-Morton returned to Dusseldorf exhibiting at ‘The world’s leading medical trade fair’, positioned in their familiar stand location in Hall 11. Showcasing the latest product developments and safety devices, their experienced team were on hand to answer questions and were once again joined by management from overseas subsidiaries: Swann-Morton Sinner, France and JK Surgical, Poland.
